Dr. Zhixiong Chen
Chairman of Board of Governors, CAST-USA

Dr. Chen is the Chair of BOG of CAST-USA, 2016 President of CAST-USA, has been serving the CAST-USA voluntarily for almost 20 years. He used to be the President and Board of Director of CAST-USA GNY chapter and various other positions in CAST-USA.

Dr. Chen has worked for IBM T. J. Watson Research Center as a senior research scientist over six years and Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an assistant professor over three years. Currently, He is the Chair of the Department of the Mathematics and Computer Science, Mercy College at New York. His current research interests are on data exploration and data security in the areas of Internet Social Media and Services Computing including Cloud Computing and Autonomic Computing. Show Full Bio


He has published 40 peer reviewed journal and conference papers, and served as program chairs, committee members in various IEEE conferences. He holds CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and is a senior member of IEEE and ACM. He holds PhD in Math and MS in CS from University of Pittsburgh, and MA and BA in Math from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Dr. Tong Fang
President of CAST-USA (2011)

Dr. Tong Fang, Founder and CEO of Dreamuniversal 3D Technologies Inc, to develop advanced technologies for motion-capture based 3D digital content smart generation for the applications of 3D animation movies, games, advertisements, education, industry, medical, virtual reality/augmented reality . Before that, he was head of Visual & Solid Modeling research group and Senior Key Expert Scientist at Siemens Corporate Research, to conduct research and development in the fields of computer vision, industrial and medical image processing, pattern recognition, 3D geometric modeling and visualization. Under his leadership, his group has made significant contribution on Siemens medical imaging devices including Ultrasound, MRI, CT and X-ray by developing advanced technologies to improve image quality for better clinical diagnosis. In addition, he built the 3D Geometric Modeling technology field at Siemens and developed the world’s first automated 3D modeling system for Siemens hearing aid digital manufacturing. He has successfully introduced 3D geometric modeling technologies to personalized implant design and surgical pre-operative planning applications. He has published 50+ papers and has 100+ international patents awarded including 64 US patents.
During his Ph.D. study at Rutgers from 1995-1999, he had been focusing on the research of 3D printing, and was one of main contributors for developing the world first multi-material 3D Pinter. He also got three Master degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Management. He is life member of Chinese Association for Science and Technology, USA and was President of CAST-USA in 2011.

 

Dr. Jizhong Xiao
Chairman of Board of Directors, CAST-USA GNY

Dr. Jizhong Xiao is the current Chairman of Board of Directors of CAST-USA Greater New York Chapter. He joined the City College of New York (CCNY) in 2002 and is currently a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of the City College, City University of New York (CCNY/CUNY City College). He serves as the advisor of the PhD program in Electrical Engineering at CUNY City College, as well as a doctoral faculty member of the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Xiao started the robotics research program at CUNY City College and is the founding director of CCNY Robotics Lab and the Center for Perceptual Robotics, Intelligent Sensors and Machines (PRISM Center).Show Full Bio

  In recent years, he has received over US$3.7 million research grants from U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Army Research Office (ARO), Department of Transportation and industry and has published more than 120 research articles in peer reviewed journal and conferences.

Dr. Xiao is a recipient of NSF CAREER award in 2007 and the CCNY Outstanding Mentoring Award in 2011. He received the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany, 2013~2015. Dr. Xiao has served the robotics community in various roles of many conferences and served as guest editor and reviewers for major robotics journals and conferences and proposal evaluation panelist for NSF and ARO. He is a senior member of IEEE.

Dr. Charles Shen
President, CAST-USA GNY

Dr. Charles Shen serves as the President of CAST-USA Greater New York Chapter, Board of Governor and Vice President of CAST-USA. He is also Co-Director of Advanced ConsTruction and InfOrmation techNology (ACTION) Laboratory at Columbia University,  Overseas Board of Director (BoD) of Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA)’s Entrepreneurship Alliance and Overseas BoD of the Shanghai WRSA. Show Full Bio

Before joining Columbia, Dr. Shen was a Senior Member of Technical Staff at the research division of AT&T Services. He had also conducted research at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bell Communications Research, now part of Ericsson), Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and Singapore’s Institute for InfoComm Research (A*STAR). He developed several Internet standards and is an inventor of 7 awarded and 4 pending United States patents.

Dr. Shen holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, and Executive EMBA from Columbia Business School.  

Mr. Fred Yan
President-Elect, CAST-USA GNY 

颜为民现任旅美科协大纽约分会候任会长(2018),全国总会副会长;就职于Educational Testing Service研发部任Principal Research Data Analyst,长期从事各种与考试相关的数据分析工作,曾开发诊断式评分报告软件(Diagnostic Score Report)。同时担任美洲中国工程师学会大纽约分会理事,天津大学(北洋大学)北美校友会会长。
